The practice is led by Dr. Chelsea Duggan, a highly respected and experienced board-certified dermatologist, who has a proud history of providing outstanding dermatology services to patients in the area. Dr. Duggan provides individual, personalized attention and innovative techniques reveal beautiful, healthy skin.
Dr. Chelsea Duggan, DO
Board-Certified Dermatologist
Dr. Chelsea Duggan is a board-certified dermatologist who enjoys practicing both general and cosmetic dermatology.
Dr. Duggan completed her undergraduate and medical school degrees at Michigan State University (GO GREEN!). She went on to complete her residency through Beaumont Hospital and the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
An accomplished professional, Dr. Duggan has served as a clinical assistant professor at Michigan State University and is an active member of several national medical societies, including the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, the American Osteopathic Association, and the Michigan Osteopathic Association.
Originally from Harrison, Michigan, Dr. Duggan has spent countless winters since childhood escaping the snow at her grandparents’ home in Englewood, Florida.
Passionate about continuity of care, she treats her patients as if they were her own family members and loves providing comprehensive dermatological care to patients of all ages. Understanding that patients have many choices when selecting a dermatologist, she is honored to offer top-quality care to those who choose her and the Seaside Dermatology team.
In her free time, Dr. Duggan enjoys being outdoors, traveling internationally, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
Dr. John Mavropoulos, M.D., M.P.H., Ph.D.
Board-Certified Dermatologist
Affectionately called Dr. Mav or Dr. John by his patients, Dr. John Mavropoulos is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon. He is a proud member of the American College of Mohs Surgery.
Dr. Mav earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Chicago. He then completed his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees at Duke University while simultaneously obtaining a Master’s in Public Health (M.P.H.) degree in Nutrition and Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Following medical school, he completed his dermatology residency at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland, and furthered his training with an intensive one-year fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and procedural dermatology at Virginia Commonwealth University.
During his medical training, Dr. Mav published numerous scientific articles and studies in peer-reviewed scientific and medical journals. He continues to have a strong interest in clinical research. In his free time, Dr. Mav enjoys running, biking, weight-lifting, cooking, eating, teaching, reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
Carolyn Edlund, MPAS, PA-C
Board-Certified Physician Assistant
Carolyn Edlund is a board-certified Physician Assistant with a specialization in surgical dermatology. With over a decade of experience in reconstructive surgery following Mohs surgery or excision, Carolyn brings a wealth of expertise to her field.
She earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a nationally ranked program known for its comprehensive surgical training.
Carolyn graduated as valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA, receiving the Outstanding Physician Assistant Graduate Student award and the Margaret K. Kirklin Award for Scholastic Achievement.
A native Floridian, Carolyn has called the Sarasota area home since 2016. When not in the office, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two young children.
Danielle DeCubellis, FNP-C
Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner
Danielle DeCubellis is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 16 years of nursing experience across dermatology, various specialty practices, and the hospital setting. For the past six years, Danielle has focused exclusively on medical and aesthetic dermatology.
Originally from Atlanta, GA, Danielle moved to Sarasota as a young child and has been a resident ever since. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the State College of Florida and graduated with honors from the University of South Florida with a Master’s in Family Health Nursing.
Danielle is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the Florida Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Sarasota County Nurse Practitioner group. She has a passion for medical, aesthetic, and surgical dermatology, and has completed advanced training in laser and light technology as well as neurotoxins and dermal fillers.
She stays current with the latest treatment options and particularly enjoys treating acne. In her free time, Danielle enjoys traveling, attending concerts, trying new restaurants, and rescuing cats. She has four rescue cats of her own: Luna, Zoe, Meelo, and Hank.
Alexandra Allen, FNP-C
Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner
Alex is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with over a decade of nursing experience. She is originally from Ohio but as a child she spent many spring breaks on Siesta Key but has now called Florida home for the last 15 years.
Alex began her nursing studies at The University of Florida where she received her Bachelor of Science in nursing and continued her education to pursue her Doctor of Nursing Practice.
She found her passion for aesthetic medicine as it married her interest in both art and medicine. After graduating with her doctorate degree, Alex began her career in aesthetic dermatology and has been working in this field for over 8 years. She specialized in lasers, wrinkle relaxers, and dermal fillers.
Alex uses her artistic eye to create a custom treatment plan for each patient as she recognizes that there is no “one size fits all” approach to achieving her patient’s treatment goals, and truly enjoys making her patients feel more confident in their own skin. In her free time Alex enjoys spending time with her husband Frankie and two beautiful daughters, as well as traveling, arts & crafts, and gardening.
Diana Lowe, PA-C
Board-Certified Physician Assistant
Diana is a board-certified Physician Assistant with over 10 years of experience in medical practice, specializing in both general and cosmetic dermatology.
Originally from New Jersey, Diana began her academic journey at Montclair State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics. During her undergraduate years, she gained valuable experience as an Emergency Medical Technician and worked in dermatology. Diana then pursued her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Nova Southeastern University and completed the SDPA diplomate fellowship, where she received advanced training in dermatology.
An active member of professional organizations like the Florida Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants, Diana is deeply committed to her field. She treats each patient as if they were a family member, focusing on providing comprehensive care and getting to the root cause of medical conditions to offer long-term solutions.
Outside of her professional life, Diana enjoys baking, cooking, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and their dog and cat. She also shares a special bond with her triplet brothers, which has shaped her into the compassionate, patient, and understanding person she is today.
